A McWillys Jeep?

We came up with the name McWillys on a lark. After all, my wife has a Scottish heritage.

Gotta Blame the Blue Mule

the Blue Mule, Eddy Creek

The Blue Mule started it all. He is a 1952 M38 military Willys jeep. During high school, he got a new life as the Blue Mule.

After high school, the Blue Mule came to Colorado during college. That year, he scrambled all over the Rockies, before heading to the mid-west.

A few years in Alaska, then the Blue Mule came back to Colorado. His time was spent exploring the Leadville area, and treating grandkids to jeep rides. When the oldest turned 16, the Blue Mule traveled to Washington. There he once again hauled kids to school.

Just when the Blue Mule thought he was retired, he came back to Colorado. After what he's gotten into now, he might wish he'd stayed in retirement!

It's an Obsession

Mike and the Blue Mule on Mt. Princeton

Jeeping with the Blue Mule has taken us all kinds of places in the Upper Arkansas Valley.

No altitude is too high. The Blue Mule has climbed most of the way up a couple of Colorado's famous 14'ers: Mt. Antero and Mt. Princeton. He was taken us to the Continental Divide.

Some of this has been a bit rough on the old guy, but he's been getting some Willys loving. Each year we find some thing(s) to fix. One thing about an old jeep, they are pretty easy to "field fix".

To find out more about the Blue Mule, check out his pictorial story at m38Mike's Jeep Pages. And, yep, there's more than one of them Willys jeeps in the stable.
